إذا كان هذا الطفل بمرحلة يتفهم فيها الحوار سأدعمة بكل كلمات الامل وانظر له كأنة شخص طبيعي مع مراعاتة واضرب له الأمثال بأبطال حققوا بطولات لم يمنعهم مرضا او عجز.

ابذلوا قصار جهدكم بأن تؤمنوا له كل إحتياجاته كمريض، لكي يشعر بأنكم سنده و بأنكم تقفون جانبه. لا تعاملونه معاملةً خاصة او مميزة بسبب مرضه، فكل شخص منا في الحياة لديه ما يعيبه سواء على مستوى الجسد او على مستوى الروح، و دور ابائنا ان يتعاملوا مع ذلك بطريقة طبيعية، أن يقبلوا بنا على كليتنا، بعيوبنا و بملكاتنا.. معاملتكم له بطريقة مميزة بناءاً على مرضه ستشعره بإنعدام الأمان، لأن البشر بشكل عام حساسين إتجاه الشفقة و لا يحبون أن يُنظر لهم على انهم كائنات ناقصة و بحاجة إلى معاملة على مستوى مختلف، و يريدون أن يُنظر لهم بأنهم طبيعيون..

ثانياً لا تقلقوا كثيراً بشأن سعادته، فقلقكم سينعكس عليه، و سيشعر بأن ما يعاني منه هو شيء ذو تأثير حاد في سير حياته. هنالك ابحاث كثيرة في مجال علم النفس تثبت بأن الإنسان و لو أصابه شلل كامل لن يؤثر ذلك حقاً على مستوى سعادته، نعم قد يشعر بحزن كبير، و لكن خلال فترة، سيعود لنفس مستوى سعادته قبل شلله.. فلا يوجد اي داعي للقلق، البشر بطبيعتهم أقوياء و مجبولون على المواصلة و الإستمرار.

صديقي تقبله للمرض يعتمد على تقبل المحيطين له بالمرض فإذا كانت العائلة تخفي الموضوع أو تتعامل معه على أنه سر سيتعامل مع مرضه على أنه عيب موجود فيه، حتى التعاطف الزائد معه لأنه مريض سيصور له أنه دائماً بحاجة من حوله ولا يستطيع الاعتماد على نفسه وأن كل شيء متاح له وطبعاً التعامل بحيادية هو الحل.

بمعنى لا نظهر التعاطف الزائد ولا النفور فبالنهاية كل ما يحدث مع الطفل يؤثر على شخصيته في المستقبل...نصيحتي هي تقبلوا المرض وعلموه كيف يتقبله ولا يشعر بأنه مختلف عن غيره من الأطفال بالعكس يجب أن يكون واثق من نفسه، ومن المهم طبعاً التعامل مع الأقارب والجيران بحزم في هذه المسألة حتى لا يؤثر ذلك عليه بشكل سلبي.

أقول لك هذا من قصة واقعية لأحد من أقاربي تعاملوا مع طفلهم بطريقة سهلة وكانوا متعاطفين جداً معه لكن عندما كبر أصبح إتكالي ولم ينجز أي شيء في حياته وهو الآن في سن ال30.

اجعلوا المرض حافز له ليكون شخص منتج وناجح.
